BMW Adds Solar to Alternative Energy Portfolio

BMW Manufacturing has completed the installation and commissioning of solar panels that are providing solar energy to fully power the 24,000 square foot Zentrum Museum, the plant’s heritage museum and visitors’ center.

Volkswagen Chattanooga Completes 50,000th Car and Creates 200 New Jobs
|
|
Volkswagen Chattanooga achieved its first significant production milestone of 2012 this week – completion of its 50,000th Passat. Volkswagen also announced last week that an additional 200 jobs would be created in Chattanooga.

German Center of Excellence at Emory University
|
|
On February 14th, the Department of German Studies at Emory University received the designation "German Center of Excellence" from the American Association of Teachers in German (AATG), the national professional organization for scholars and teachers in German.

International Day at Burruss Elementary School, Marietta GA
|
|
Burruss Elementary, a Marietta City School, hosted its first International Day on February 6th with exhibitions, food and music from countries around the globe to celebrate and promote multi-cultural understanding.

German Films at the 12th Atlanta Jewish Film Festival
|
|
Founded in 2000, AJFF ranks as the largest film festival in Atlanta, and second largest Jewish film festival in the United States. AJFF attracts an audience of more than 20,000 moviegoers, and features an international collection of some 60 narrative and documentary films that explore the Jewish experience. Screenings are supplemented by guest appearances with filmmakers, actors, authors, academics and other expert speakers.

Augsburger Geigenbande - Five Centuries of Violin Music
|
|
Join us at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta for a presentation of violin music spanning 500 years – from the classical repertoire of Vivaldi, Handel, and Haydn to classic rock hits from the Beatles. Proceeds of this event will benefit the German School Atlanta.

America and the Germans: Conflict and Cooperation

The Tam Institute for Jewish Studies at Emory University presents "Adolf Hitler and the United States: Views, Plans, Policies, and the ‘Jewish Question’", a lecture by Gerhard L. Weinberg, Professor Emeritus of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Adrienne Haan in Concert: "Berlin - mon amour"
|
|
Berlin, mon amour is a tribute to 1920s and 30s Germany featuring songs of the Weimar Berlin Period, Degenerate Music, as well as chansons of Marlene Dietrich's movie era. This stage show is a fiery explosion of Big Band Swing and an enigmatic Adrienne Haan.
