In 2012, Brandenburg is marking the 300th birthday of Frederick the Great with a host of events, including exhibitions, theater and musical performances, film series, and illuminations in Potsdam and throughout the region.

Goethe-Zentrum / Alliance Française 2nd Anniversary Celebration
|
|
2012 marks the second year anniversary of the Goethe-Zentrum / Alliance Française cultural partnership and cohabitation at Colony Square in Atlanta, Georgia. These two cultural institutions were the first in the United States, despite their numerous representations across the country, to choose to live and work under the same roof. To celebrate this successful relationship, a public reception will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Colony Square, jointly organized with the help of German Consul General Dr. Lutz Hermann Görgens and French Consul General Pascal Le Deunff.

German Films at the 12th Atlanta Jewish Film Festival
|
|
Founded in 2000, AJFF ranks as the largest film festival in Atlanta, and second largest Jewish film festival in the United States. AJFF attracts an audience of more than 20,000 moviegoers, and features an international collection of some 60 narrative and documentary films that explore the Jewish experience. Screenings are supplemented by guest appearances with filmmakers, actors, authors, academics and other expert speakers.

German Films at the Athens Jewish Film Festival
|
|
Founded in 2008, the Athens Jewish film festival brings quality Jewish films to Athens, GA through an annual festival and year round events. Its mission is two-fold: to review, discuss, and celebrate films of Jewish interest, and to encourage emerging filmmakers.

UGA School of Law to Host Energy Security Conference
|
|
The University of Georgia School of Law's Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law will host a daylong conference on international energy security on Feb. 3 in the Larry Walker Room of Dean Rusk Hall on North Campus. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the event is free and open to the public.

Augsburger Geigenbande - Five Centuries of Violin Music
|
|
Join us at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta for a presentation of violin music spanning 500 years – from the classical repertoire of Vivaldi, Handel, and Haydn to classic rock hits from the Beatles. Proceeds of this event will benefit the German School Atlanta.
