Festive Golden Christmas Buses Brighten DC Streets in Holiday Season
Using a festive golden design with red accents, the German Embassy is presenting three buses in Washington, DC, that express the joy with which Germans welcome Christmas. The German Embassy would like to share this spirit with the residents of the nation's capital and the entire United States during this holiday season. The designs were launched today on three WMATA Metrobuses in Washington, DC, and on a virtual bus online at
www.Germany.info
. Carrying both the traditional German Christmas greeting of "Frohe Weihnachten," which means Merry Christmas, and the universal Season's Greetings, they usher in the pre-Christmas Advent season.
This is the ninth such promotional bus that the German Embassy has launched in DC since 2004 and follows on the very popular, and very colorful, "German is Wunderbar" bus from earlier this year, which featured the many cool German words that are common in English.
Passers-by who spot one of the buses and take a picture, as well as anyone in the United States who finds the "virtual bus" online and takes a screenshot can enter the contest online at
http://www.germany.info/spotthebus
. We will send everyone who submits a valid entry a Germany.info Christmas ornament or other gift. It's that easy. The "Spot the Bus" contest runs from November 21 through December 25, 2011.

|
If Thanksgiving were an official holiday in Germany, a lot of German employees would most likely turn the Friday right after it into a Brückentag, or "Bridge Day," to create an extended four-day weekend.
