Deadline for Applications for One-Time Payment to Former Soviet Prisoners of War to Expire

The German Parliament decided on May 21, 2015, that former Soviet prisoners of war should receive a symbolic payment in recognition of their treatment in German detention.

Live in Germany for a year through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange!

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress, that annually provides the opportunity to spend one year in each others' countries, studying, interning, and living with hosts on a cultural immersion program. The program is open to candidates in all career fields who are interested in a year of cultural exchange. Prior German language knowledge is not required, but is strongly preferred. Deadline for applications is December 1st!

From March 20, 2017 until approximately May 5, 2017 applicants living in the jurisdiction of the German Consulate General Los Angeles may submit their Schengen Visa applications at the German Consulate General Houston by appointment.

All German Passports, ID Cards and Visa Applicants need to arrange for an appointment in order to hand in their applications. Certifications of Signatures, Affidavit of Support, Life Certificates as well as German Sales Tax Refunds will also require an appointment.

Appointments can only be made online. Every family member needs a separate appointment.

Important Information – Visas for Hungary and Austria


The German Consulate General Houston is accepting visa applications for Austria (residents of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas only) and Hungary. You will find more information about the Visa requirements on our website.
