The Southwest, represented by California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Nevada, was present at the 2016 Hannover Messe, where the United States was this year's partner country.

Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann participated in the inaugural event of the Los Angeles Eric M. Warburg Chapter of the American Council on Germany, where ACG Chairman Ambassador Robert M. Kimmitt discussed the common challenges being faced by the United States and Germany.

Dr. Michael Göring, CEO of the Foundation ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius, visited Los Angeles during his tour of the United States to give an expert’s view on the European refugee crisis, it's impact on and Germany's response to the crisis.
German Honorary Consul in Arizona, Dr. Helge Jordan attended the Delta Phi Alpha induction ceremony at the University of Arizona, where outstanding students of German were installed as new members in the National German Honor Society.

Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann recently visited Las Vegas, where he met with Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, and officially installed Ryan Lower as the new honorary consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in Nevada.

Marthe Cohn, a remarkable woman with a remarkable life story will be featured in German filmmaker Nicola Hens’ documentary, “An Unusual Spy.” The Consulate General hosted a private afternoon with Marthe Cohn and Nicola Hens in support of the film that tells the story of a passionate woman who risked her life as a French spy behind German enemy lines and helped end the war. The film will also keep a dark part of history alive for future generations.
Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann recently traveled to San Diego to meet with local government officials and business leaders. In addition, he gave a talk on the refugee crisis.

Book of Condolences for Dr. Guido Westerwelle
A book of condolences for former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Guido Westerwelle, will be available at the Consulate General for all those who wish to convey their remembrances on Monday, March 21, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 22, from 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Consulate General is located at 6222 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 500, Los Angeles, CA 90048.
Deputy Consul General Stefan Biedermann attended the first annual German Theater Festival at Albert Einstein Academies in San Diego. During his visit, he also presented the German immersion school with an annual grant from the German government.
During his recent visit to Los Angeles, Michael Müller, Governing Mayor of Berlin, met with representatives to foster Los Angeles - Berlin sister city ties and gain support for film city Berlin.
