Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann recently attended the opening of the play, “My Sister,” at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles. The play, set in early 1930’s Berlin, explores the relationship between twin sisters, one severely disabled, during the harsh depression and the emergence of the Nazis.

Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann paid his first official visit to Arizona where he met with representatives of the German community among others, including the mayor of Mesa.
Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann attended the 20th anniversary celebration of Villa Aurora as an artists residence on Saturday, November 14. The event featured a panel discussion focusingon the artist in times of crisis and was followed by a reception.

The German Consulate General will place a book of condolences in its foyer, located at 6222 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 500, Los Angeles, CA 90048, which will be open for all those wishing to convey their remembrances, Thursday, November 12, from 1pm to 4:30 pm, and Friday, November 13, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier gave the following statement in Berlin on the 10th of November on the death of former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt:
“Germany has paused for reflection. The death of Helmut Schmidt fills me with great sorrow. We Germans have lost a father figure. Helmut Schmidt had a profound impact on us and our country. [...]"
