"Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without your favorite cookies!"

These favorite recipes are being shared by members of the German Embassy in Washington as a Christmas greeting to this site's many visitors. Each recipe has been in the family for years, with many now being passed to the third generation. The treats are quite different from one another, according to family tastes, and use delicious flavors often overlooked in the United States. Some of the ingredients, while common in Germany, may be more difficult to find in the United States.

(We have tried to be as accurate as possible, but you should know that all recipes have been converted from metric measurements to American standards.)
