Students, Embassy celebrate 50 years of the EU with gala event

The black tie event was organized by fifteen students from Washington area universities in cooperation with the German Information Center and the Press Department. Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Johannes Haindl, and Deputy Head of EU Delegation, Mr Angelos Pangratis, welcomed the guests and praised the European Union's achievements.

Winning Shot: The Spot the Bus Winner from February Spot the Bus Winner

The Embassies of the 27 EU Member States represented their countries at the event. Over 250 American and international students from George Washington University, American, George Mason, Georgetown, and John Hopkins University as well as alumi from German-American journalism exchange programs came to enthusiastically celebrate the European Union’s birthday. Also, the winner of the embassy’s “spot the bus” contest for March was awarded his iPod Shuffle during the event. At the end of the gala, a shuttle service was provided. The distinct blue metro bus advertising the German EU Presidency took the guests home safely.
