It provides information on school exchange programs, extracurricular exchanges offered outside of school, academic and cultural programs, and opportunities for advanced vocational training. Upon request, the office will try to facilitate contacts between individuals and institutions as well as between various institutions. The work of this information office also focuses on expanding the exchange of professionals between Berlin and the United States.
An association of several of the larger nonprofit exchange organizations that represents the interests of its members, informs the public about their activities, and conducts joint projects, such as those in the field of continuing education.
The ABI is an information and consumer protection organization specializing in education issues, particularly those concerning language study trips, high school programs, language courses, among others. The brochure "Englisch lernen in Übersee" ("Learning English Overseas"), provides detailed information about participating in language study trips and the publication "Schuljahresaufenthalte in USA" informs about private exchange organizations. It is also possible to obtain free telephone advice on individual providers (Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 12 noon). Studentenwerk Hamburg The students union in Hamburg provides of BAföG payment to pupils, students, and trainees who go the United States for educational purposes. The students union in Hamburg is responsible for applicants from all off Germany. |
