The area of jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Boston includes the six New England States: Connecticut (with the exception of Fairfield County), Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The Consulate consists of the Legal and Consular Section, the Economic & Commercial Section, Cultural, Academic & Scientific Exchange Section and the Media & Information Section.

Services we offer:

1. The Legal and Consular Section provides advice and assistance in all matters of German public administration, such as questions of nationality (4903), the registration of births & marriages (Apostille) or the issuance of passports (4904) and registration documents. Additional services cover notarization & inheritance matters (4910), German pensions, social security and restitution affairs (4908). Within the Consular Service, the Visa Department is responsible for the issuance of visa.

2. The Economic & Commercial Section helps to develop and expand trade and investment relations between Germany and New England. It assists companies from both countries to establish new partnerships or joint ventures. The "German-American Business Council of Boston, Inc." is another important institution in this context.

3. The Section for Cultural, Academic and Scientific Exchanges promotes cultural, academic and scientific exchanges and ties between Germany and the New England states.

4. The Media and Information Section provides information on Germany and German affairs to schools, colleges and universities, the media and interested associations as well as for the general public.
   The film library rents -free of charge- videos on German topics to schools and colleges/universities.
