Appointment system

Pension and compensation payment issues, as well as citizenship matters (with the exception of dual citizenship) can still be processed from Monday through Friday between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m. without setting up an appointment in advance.

Please note: Due to space restrictions, it is only possible for people to enter the Consulate General if their personal presence is necessary for the application. We also ask that you do not bring any luggage or other bulky objects with you to your appointment, as it is not possible for these to be stored.

German-American Day celebrated in Chicago

Consul General Quelle addressed a large congregation of German-Americans celebrating German-American Day at St. Benedict Church, Chicago, on Sunday, October 4th.   Twenty-five associations paraded and presented their flags. Erich Himmel, Chairman of the Commemoration, welcomed the guests.

25th German Unity Day celebrated at Union League Club

On Thursday, October 1, Consul General Herbert Quelle hosted a reception at the Union League Club of Chicago on the occasion of the 25th celebration of German Unity Day.  The reception was two days shy of the 25th anniversary of German legal reunification, which took place on October 3, 1990.

German NGO helps out with community garden project in Detroit

On August 5 Consul General Herbert Quelle visited a summer camp on the east side of Detroit. Volunteers from the German NGO “Action Reconciliation Service for Peace” and members of the community project “Eden Gardens” in the Glenfield/Roseberry area of east Detroit are jointly clearing a plot and planting a garden.

Dr. Judith Levi awarded Cross of the Order of Merit

Author and linguist Dr. Judith Levi received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstkreuz am Bande des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) in a ceremony at the Chicago Consulate General on Tuesday, July 15, 2015.

25 years of German unity – in 2015, Germany celebrates the 25th anniversary of reunification.

The special feature on “25 years of German unity” in the issue 02/2015 of DE Magazin Deutschland and the corresponding dossier on the website do not only present background articles and interviews looking back on what has been achieved, but also and above all they focus on the present in Germany today.
