Refugees and migration

Approximately one million people sought refuge in Germany in 2015. The influx of refugees from crisis regions and war zones is currently determining social policy debates in Germany more strongly than any other topic. The special feature on “Refugees and migration” in the latest issue of DE Magazin Deutschland and on the website presents reports, interviews and profiles that explain how Germany is addressing this enormous task and describe the efforts of policymakers, administrators, institutions and countless volunteers. This issue also includes an interview with Gernot Erler, Special Representative of the Federal Government for the German OSCE Chairmanship in 2016, and an article about Germany’s commitment to the United Nations.
