Invitation to screening of Luther

German Consul General visits the University of Texas in Austin!

German Consul General Thomas Meister was welcomed in Austin last week by Dr. Barbara Laubenthal, Associate Professor in the Germanic Department, to speak on German-U.S. relations after the German national elections, where more than 100 lecturers and students joined the conversation! He also met with the Director of the Economic Development Team and received a private tour around the Texas State Capitol.

The Reformation then and now

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Professor Dr. Michael Haspel, Director of the Protestant Academy of Thuringia, visited Dallas and Houston last week to give lectures, which explored how Martin Luther King, Jr. drew upon insights from Martin Luther for his concept in the struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

Leipzig students raise money for flood victims in Houston!

Today, students of the Keplergymnasium in Leipzig, Germany, Houston's sister city, sold sandwiches to raise money for the flood victims in Houston. These students participated in the exchange with their partner school, the Heights High School in Houston, Texas.

Germany’s candidacy for a seat on the Security Council in 2019/20

Germany is seeking to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Former Foreign Minister Steinmeier announced the candidacy for 2019/20 in Hamburg on June 27th. The elections are expected to take place at the General Assembly in June 2018.

All German Passports, ID Cards and Visa Applicants need to arrange for an appointment in order to hand in their applications. Certifications of Signatures, Affidavit of Support as well as German Sales Tax Refunds will also require an appointment.

Appointments can only be made online. Every family member needs a separate appointment.
