Download Adobe Acrobat Reader
if necessary.

NEW WEBSITE FOR GERMAN-AMERICANS
With the launch of the new German-American heritage website, www.GERMANORIGINality.com,
the German Information Center USA, the German National Tourist Board and
their partners want to give
German-Americans a new platform, a "virtual home" to learn about
the lives of their ancestors, to present the outstanding contributions
of German-Americans to American culture and to discover
Germany "as it was... and is today".

Jewish Life in Germany
Germanys relationship to its Jewish community is of profound importance
to the countrys post-war reconciliation and the continuing process
of coming to terms with its Nazi past. There are substantial efforts to
revitalize the German-Jewish relationship so that a renewed Jewish culture
may once again become a vibrant part of todays Germany. The blossoming
of Jewish cultural life in German is a testament to the success of these
efforts.
Germany is home to the third largest number of Jews and the fastest growing
Jewish population in Europe.
Jewish Cultural Sites in Berlin
More
than half a century after the Nazis almost succeeded at erasing all traces
of Jewish life from German soil, there is, what Paul Spiegel, President
of the Central Council of Jews in Germany has called, a small Jewish
renaissance. Especially in Berlin, the nations bustling capital,
one finds many forms of
Jewish cultural life.
Jewish Cultural Sites throughout
Germany
Munich,
Dresden, and many smaller communities are witnessing a growth of their
Jewish communities.
Jewish Education and the Yiddish Language in Germany
Today,
Jewish studies are not just relegated to history classes.
