The Secretary and Treasurer of the German Language School Conference,
Peter Schroeck, has received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In the ceremony which took place March 9, 2008 in the German Consulate the Deputy Consul General, Stephan Grabherr, praised Peter Schroeck for his steadfast labour and enthusiastic dedication to supporting the presence of the German language. Through his twenty-five years of work for the German Language School Conference Peter Schroeck contributed considerably to establish an effective network of German Language Schools.

Multilingualism opens new horizons and brings people closer together. By promoting the language of Goethe and Schiller we strengthen traditional ties between Germany and the United States and pave the way for young people to enjoy an open exchange of views and to experience personal encounters, said the Deputy Consul General.
