Our area of jurisdiction covers the Pacific Northwest of the United States: Northern California, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and the U.S. territories Baker, Howland, Jarvis, Johnston Islands, Midway and Palmyra island.

Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier gave the following statement in Berlin on the 10th of November on the death of former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt: “Germany has paused for reflection. The death of Helmut Schmidt fills me with great sorrow. We Germans have lost a father figure. Helmut Schmidt had a profound impact on us and our country. [...]"

During his first trip to Alaska from July 10-15, Consul General Stefan Schlüter had the opportunity to meet met with several political and community leaders in Anchorage to explore possibilities to deepen  German-Alaskan relations.

German Consul General Stefan Schlueter hosted a special performance at his Residence on July 23: singer-songwriter Lucie Lynch, a German native living in Hawaii, performed live and enchanted guests with her angelic voice and wicked sense of humor.  In her program, Lucie weaves original music with colorful tales from her road adventures.


SPD Chairman Oppermann visits Bay Area and Silicon Valley

Thomas Oppermann, chairman of the parliamentary group of Social Democrats in Germany, visited San Francisco and the Bay Area from July 20 – 23. During his stay, Mr. Oppermann had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the local tech-Scene, founders and members of start-ups, and university experts focusing on the internet, data, and artificial intelligence.


Ready, Set, Goal – Public Screening of the U.S.-Germany Match in San Francisco

It was a sunny and cheerful afternoon on June 30 when American and German fans gathered in front of the historic San Francisco City Hall to watch the Women’s World Cup Semifinal. Hosted by the local Recreation and Park Department in partnership with America Scores Bay Area, this event provided not only an ideal opportunity for all soccer fans to enjoy an exciting match, but also to learn something about the national backgrounds of both teams.  


An evening among friends: celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany in San Francisco

The San Francisco based Consulates General of the State of Israel and the Federal Republic of Germany and as well as their partners, the AJC Global Jewish Advocacy and the Goethe-Institut, celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany on Tuesday May 12, 2015.
