Applications Invited for George F. Kennan German-American Commentary Award

The Federal Foreign Office and the Board of Trustees of the International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) will once again be awarding the George F. Kennan German-American Commentary Award, named after former diplomat and author George F. Kennan. Any journalist who in 2007 had an opinion piece published in the German print media commenting on German-American relations or transatlantic relations may apply for the award. The piece in question must be clearly recognizable as commentary. The winner will be selected by a jury that includes prominent journalists.

Applicants should send their opinion piece with a letter of application to:

The deadline for applications is February 8, 2008

Applications should include the print medium in which the piece was published, the date of publication, as well as the applicant’s current occupation.
The award, which includes a prize of 2,000 euros, will be presented in Berlin in spring 2008 during the annual Arthur F. Burns Dinner.
