Climate protection – International Co-operation in Climate and Energy Issues

The German Government is offering journalists the opportunity to get acquainted with Germany’s climate change and energy policy during a visit to Germany in May 2008.

The program for the visit will focus on German climate and energy policies through 2020 and on the German commitment to the international climate policy in the framework of the G8 and the European Union. Participants will be able to discuss these issues with policy makers of the German Parliament as well as with officials of the Foreign Office, the Federal Environment Ministry, the Federal Transportation Ministry and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Participants will be provided with information on new technologies and take part in field trips to environmentally friendly buildings, and a CO2-emissions-free lignite test power plant. A visit to the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn will be included, too.

The trip will take place from May 5 to May 10, 2008. Destinations will be Berlin, Dessau and Bonn. The language will be English. The participants will come from different countries, including Brasil, China, India, Russia, Indonesia, and others.
