International Journalism Competition
The German Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” is announcing its 2008 Journalism Prize. To mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in December 2008, journalists between the ages of 18 and 35 are invited to submit an example of their work on the theme of the first article of the Declaration: "All human beings are born free and equal. "
The competition is open to journalists from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, and the United States. Groups of independent jurors will select the best articles.
The 2008 journalism prizes will be awarded to three outstanding press articles in each language category. The winners will be invited to attend the awards ceremony, to be held in Berlin in December 2008.
The articles should have been published in a newspaper, magazine, or Internet magazine in the applicant’s country of origin no earlier than 2007 and no later than the deadline for applications on July 31, 2008. Nonpublished articles may also be considered on an exception basis. The articles may be written in the language of the respective country.
