Press Releases April 26, 2007 EU Open House on Saturday May 12 European Union Embassies Invite Washington-Area Residents to Explore Europe in DC “Take Metro to Europe” on Free Shuttles www.europe-in-dc.com Today the embassies of the European Union member states and the Washington Delegation of the European Commission are launching the website www.europe-in-dc.com with all the information visitors need to take part in the free EU Open House on Saturday, May 12. For the first time, over twenty European Union embassies will open their gates to the general public for a day of family fun and cultural experience. Free shuttle service on Metrobuses will be provided.The site, www.europe-in-dc.com, includes * a list of not-to-be-missed program highlights * a printable “passport” game * a list of participating embassies and links to their specific programs of open house events * an interactive Google Map featuring all the participating embassy locations * a guide to the Metrobus shuttle service The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is the official partner of the EU Open House. Look for the royal blue ads in Metro trains and buses inviting people to visit www.europe-in-dc.com and to “Take Metro to Europe” on May 12. A free Metrobus shuttle service will provide environmentally responsible transportation for EU Open House visitors from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Buses will travel in approximately 30-minute intervals along three routes originating from Dupont Circle Metro Station. One route will travel Reservoir Road to embassies in Georgetown, another will cover Embassy Row along Massachusetts Avenue, and a third route will cover upper Northwest DC, from Adams Morgan to Tenleytown. Kids of All Ages Can Collect “Passport” Stamps to Win Prizes Open house visitors are invited to print out their “passport” to Europe in DC and collect stamps from the embassies they visit on May 12. Visitors who collect four or more stamps can win prizes. The German Embassy is organizing the EU Open House under the aegis of the German Presidency of the European Union.26.04.2007 3:31 PM |
