Chancellor Merkel to Visit President Bush in Crawford on November 9 and 10
Chancellor Angela Merkel will travel to Texas next Friday for an exchange of ideas with US President George W. Bush
President Bush and his wife, Laura, have invited the Chancellor to their private residence in Crawford, Texas. The Chancellor will be accompanied by her husband, Professor Joachim Sauer.
Merkel and Sauer were hosts to the Bush’s in Trinwillershagen in Vorpommern in the summer of 2006.
A deepened exchange of ideas on current international issues — the Middle East peace process; the nuclear dispute with Iran; the situation in Darfur, in Kosovo and in the fight against international terrorism, for example —is planned for the talks and for a private dinner.
Other issues that may come up include trade matters, the transatlantic economic partnership and the fight against climate change.
