The German Energy Agency (Deutsche Energie Agentur GmbH or dena) is calling for participants in the international competition for the Energy Efficiency Award 2008. The award, in its second year, recognizes outstanding projects to increase energy efficiency in trade and industry. A total of 30,000 euros in prizes is available. The international competition is particularly aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises. If you have invested in innovative, exemplary measures to increase energy efficiency in your company and implemented these measures successfully, then organizers want to recognize you. The deadline to enter is January 31, 2008. A prize of 15,000 euros will go to the first-place winner, 10,000 euros to the second-place winner and 5,000 euros to third place. The winners of the competition will be announced during the World Energy Dialogue at the Hannover Messe on April 22, 2008. The competition is being organized as part of the Initiative EnergieEffizienz, a platform for action for the efficient use of electricity in all consumer sectors which is supported by dena and the energy companies EnBW, E.ON, RWE and Vattenfall Europe, and is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). The KfW promotional bank and Deutsche Messe are dena’s partner in the competition.
