Germany's contribution to the fight against global terrorism
Since the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001, Germany has stood
shoulder to shoulder with the United States and its international partners
in the fight against global terrorism.
Germany's response to the nexus of threats posed by terrorism includes
military action, diplomatic efforts, humanitarian aid and law enforcement
measures.

Germany is working with the international community through the
United Nations, NATO, the G-8 and within the European Union to coordinate
anti-terrorism efforts across borders. Germany supports reform and
opportunity in the Broader Middle East. More

Securing peace and stability

Germany is the leading contributor to the NATO-led force providing
security in Afghanistan. German troops are deployed in Enduring Freedom,
the U.S.-led operation against global terrorism. Germany supports
the stabilization and reconstruction efforts of the Iraqi government.

Germany is the world's third-largest contributor of foreign aid
around the world, offering technical and financial assistance in a
variety of areas. Its aim is to replace fear and resentment with freedom

Preventing and prosecuting terrorism

intensely to gather meaningful information in order to completely
uncover and destroy the al Qaeda network and other terrorist cells.
