The fuel-tank is encased in an insulating layer equivalent to a 56 foot-wide jacket of Styrofoam, which is needed to keep the hydrogen cooled to about
-418 degrees Fahrenheit.

The coupling for refueling with liquid hydrogen is one of the few external details that sets the Hydrogen 7 apart visually.

BMW worked with the industrial gases conglomerate Linde to develop this mobile fueling station.

Refueling with hydrogen takes about six to eight minutes.
