Hesse's Minister President Koch Meets with Rice, Burns in Washington, DC

Roland Koch, Minister President of Hesse, met with Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson and with with Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Robert Kimmitt on Thursday, September 13. He also met with World Bank President Robert Zoellick.

Koch was in Washington, DC, for political talks from September 11 to 13. He met with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs R. Nicholas Burns at the State Department on September 12.

His first meeting was with Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England at the Pentagon on September 11. Minister President Koch expressed his sympathies to Deputy Secretary England on this sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Washington, New York and Pennsylvania.

“These attacks were not just attacks against the United States but against the whole free world,” Minister President Koch said. “On this anniversary, it was very moving for me to be in New York this morning and in Washington this afternoon, both places where so many people lost their lives.”
