Foreign Minister Steinmeier condemns attacks in Pakistan
 |
Berlin: Foreign Office |
Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier issued the following statement today (19 October) on the two bomb attacks in Karachi, Pakistan: "The German Government condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific attack in Karachi which claimed more than 150 lives. The brutality of this vile act fills us with abhorrence. It stems from the utterly unjustifiable desire to destroy Pakistan's democracy. This must be combated with determination. We share the grief of friends and family and wish those who were injured a speedy recovery. The perpetrators and instigators of this attack must be found and brought to justice."
The bomb attacks took place just a few hours after the return from exile yesterday of Benazir Bhutto, leader of the Pakistan People's Party.
