The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Houston is seeking to fill the position of a driver (m/f/div.) (full time, starting mid-January).


  • Valid US driver's license and work permit
  • Solid knowledge of prevailing traffic regulations
  • Good geographic knowledge of the greater Houston area
  • Good English language skills; German language skills is a plus
  • Motivated and reliable
  • Flexible and able to work in a team
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime, including weekends and holidays
  • Care and maintenance of allotted vehicle on own initiative

Contract conditions and compensation are based on the standard employment agreement for non-diplomatic staff at the German foreign missions in the United States. The starting gross salary is USD 3,321.- per month. After 6 months, the gross salary will increase to 3,755.- USD. The position is to be filled permanently. However, an initial one-year contract will be signed with the possibility of extension.

After the successful selection process, proof of good health (through a medical examination by the Consulate General's partner physician) must be provided prior to employment. In addition, a personal/security check will be conducted. Your willingness to cooperate is assumed.

Third-country nationals must also have a valid residence permit and a valid work permit for the US no later than at the time of employment.

Only applicants who are invited to a personal interview (oral selection process) will be contacted. Suitable applicants will be invited by end of December for interviews in the 1st week of 2022.

Travel expenses to the interview will not be reimbursed.
