The German Consulate General Recommends:
Manhattan-based German actor, filmmaker and producer Sandra Bertalanffy ventures in the realms of the visual arts with her debut gallery opening at La Casa de Arte in New York City, exhibiting her expressive abstract artwork inspired by her journey documenting artists in her internationally successful and multi award-winning debut documentary “KYNNSTLAH - a series of artist portraits”. Serendipitous in the making and a piece of artwork in itself, these carefully crafted portraits lend a sense of visual and emotional approachability, which leave an appetite to explore these diverse artists on the rise. With this much anticipated local premiere, Sandra creates a platform for the portrayed artists, featuring the artworks of painters Joyce Thornburg and Sinclair Korte alongside her own work and setting the stage for poet Sam LaRoche, classical singer Nigel Smith and songwriter Jess Best. Come snap a glimpse of the magic of art as a means of expression, communication and connection and be inspired.
“KYNNSTLAH” has recently won “Best Documentary” at the Vancouver Web Fest 2018, the “Silver Award” for web series at the DC Web Fest 2018 and was nominated for “Best Editing” at the Buenos Aires Web Fest 2018. Creator, producer and co-director Sandra Bertalanffy teams up with achieved director, cinematographer, editor and co-producer Joel Fendelman in making the series and bringing her vision to life.
Sandra’s artwork will be up at La Casa de Arte in Washington Heights, Manhattan until mid-June. Viewing by appointment only.
