The German Consulate General Recommends:
Birgit Nilsson, famed Wagnerian soprano, would have been 100 on May 17, 2018, and two events are planned to celebrate her birthday. (She died in 2005.)
On May 20, the Wagner Society of New York will offer a “Tribute to Birgit Nilsson” at 3 p.m. in Bruno Walter Auditorium, Library for the Performing Arts, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza, Manhattan. The program, led by Ken Benson, vocal consultant, will include rare recordings, clips from performances and analysis of her vocal technique. It's a double birthday event: May 22 is the birthday of Richard Wagner (1813).
On June 13, at 7 p.m., also in Bruno Walter Auditorium, a new 90-minute Unitel documentary will be screened: “Birgit Nilsson - A League of Her Own”, made by Thomas Voigt and Wolfgang Wunderlich.
Tickets to both events are available here
