The Captain (Germany, France, Poland) opens in New York at the Quad Cinema on July 27, 2018.

Music Box Films presents: The Captain opens at the Quad Cinema. Director Robert Schwentke in person opening weekend.

Based on an arresting true story, The Captain follows a German army deserter after he finds an abandoned Nazi captain’s uniform in the final weeks of World War II. Emboldened by the authority the uniform grants him, he amasses a band of stragglers who cede to his command despite the suspicions of some. Citing direct orders from the Fuhrer himself, he soon takes command of a camp holding German soldiers accused of desertion and begins to dispense harsh justice.

118 Minutes, in German with English subtitles.

After an illustrious career in Hollywood, Robert Schwentke's (RED, FLIGHTPLAN) German homecoming film THE CAPTAIN, is simultaneously a historical docudrama, a tar-black comedy, and a sociological treatise, presenting fascism as a pathetic pyramid scheme, a system to be gamed by the most unscrupulous and hollow-souled.

Location and time:

The Quad
34 W. 13th Street
New York, NY 10011
Opening July 27, 2018
