Join museum experts and artists for a panel discussion on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at the German House.

The German Consulate General Recommends:

Museums increasingly reposition themselves for the digital age and approach their own initiatives by digitizing their collections, crowdsourcing their research and opening their collections to the public at large through online platforms. While digital technologies are pervasive in many of today's major museums, what exactly does it mean for museums to “go digital”? To what extent do digital tools change the way we engage with art and artifacts, how do museums fulfill their mission with the help of digital technology, and what are some of the institutional risks and challenges for museums to make their collections available online?

This event brings together museum experts and artists from the U.S. and Germany to discuss how they embrace or resist the ubiquity of the digital in presenting collections, archiving artifacts, disseminating knowledge and creating new educational opportunities.
