This week, Consul General David Gill paid a visit to the city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. With its long history of German culture, Pennsylvania is an important part of the German-American relationship. Due to his personal ties to the globally active Moravian community, David Gill was honored to meet with representatives of both the Moravian church and College and as well as their archives in Pennsylvania. “I grew up in Herrnhut, the founding city of the Moravian Church, and my father is a bishop of the denomination. Therefore, the church is very familiar to me and I strongly support their mission all over the world,” Gill said. The trip was inspired by Bethlehem and Herrnhut’s joint UNESCO World Heritage application, an initiative the Consulate General of Germany strongly supports. The German delegation also visited the German business B. Braun Medical Inc. and spoke with German language students at Lehigh University.
