During a wonderful evening at the Scandinavia House, Norway was welcomed as the Guest of Honor of this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair.
Gathering publishers, writers, translators and literature lovers from many nations, the evening was a preview of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Emphasizing the significance of translation, the event was opened by inspiring speeches given by the Consul General of the Kingdom of Norway Harriet E. Berg and Yasemin Pamuk, who was representing the Consul General of Germany, David Gill.
With an interesting panel discussion, four wonderful editors and authors argued the topic: success criteria for books in translation. The discussion emphasized how translated literature enables readers to explore thoughts and feeling from different countries and cultures.
Presenting her award-winning book “Buzz, Sting, Bite”, the Norwegian author Anne-Sverdrup-Thygeason showed the audience why insects matter.
The celebration of Norway as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair left the audience buzzing for more as they countdown to the fair itself which opens on October 16th.
