“Dealing with Disruption: Challenges and Choices for 2020” at the Fifth Annual Friends of Freiburg University Gala Dinner
With the dawn of new decade comes a string of geopolitical and economic challenges for leaders on both sides of the Atlantic. The University of Freiburg is pleased to welcome distinguished alumni Dr. Peter Wittig, German Ambassador to the United Kingdom; Dr. Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg, Chief Economist of the World Bank Group; and Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, Rector of the University of Freiburg and President of Eucor — the European Campus, to discuss how the impact of disruptive forces, such as Brexit, economic instability, and tensions surrounding the concept of a European versus national identity will shape European, transatlantic, and global relations in the new year. Dr. Jackson Janes, President Emeritus of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies and Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund, will moderate this timely discussion.
A reception and dinner will follow the panel, benefitting the University College Freiburg. Ambassador Peter Wittig will deliver the keynote address at the dinner.
