In addition, there is a centralized emergency service which picks up calls US-wide after general office hours (+1) 202 298 4000.

Currently, Germany does not provide organized repatriation flights from the USA to Germany since flights can still be booked. Try other airports for transit, also consider business or first class seats. For questions in regard to a return to Germany please contact your airline or travel agent directly. The airline and/or the travel agency is responsible for bringing you back to Germany and to offer an alternative flight if your initially booked flight has been canceled. Should you be unable to travel back to your home country at the moment, please speak with your hotel / your present accommodation whether an extension of your stay is possible at reduced rates due to the special circumstances.

If you are in a hotel ask the hotel management to prolong your stay – at a lower rate. A raise of your credit card limit with your bank also could help in this situation.

All visitors with flu-like symptoms and/or fever should refrain from a personal appointment at the German Consulate General San Francisco. All high-risk clients, such as those above the age of 60, with a compromised immune system or relevant prior illnesses, are requested to rebook their passport and visa appointments. All non-essential appointments shall be rescheduled.

If you are currently visiting the USA and notice flu-like symptoms, please contact a physician or an urgent care center. Here is a current list of doctors.

Important information for German citizens is updated constantly on the website of the German Foreign Ministry www.diplo.de
