To all teachers, students, and administrators of PASCH Schools in the United States:
In 2019 Germany will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and in 2020 we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Germany’s reunification in “a Europe whole and free.” That this phrase was coined by then-U.S. president George W. Bush in a speech in Germany in May 1989 is no coincidence: both the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification were accomplished with the steadfast Support of the United States of America.
To commemorate these anniversaries which recall our historic partnership, the German Missions in the United States are organizing a unique competition for American PArtner SCHools (PASCH). To raise interest and understanding of each other in schools of excellence has always been one of the main goals of the initiative “Schools: Partners of the Future” (PASCH). With its global network of over 1,800 Schools, PASCH is overcoming cultural boundaries and striving towards increased mutual understanding
(visit pasch-net.de to learn more).
The PASCH USA 2020 competition asks: What boundaries must we overcome today? Be creative. Think of ‘boundaries’ in a wide sense – and incorporate your response to the question into your project. It might take the form of a theater production, a reading
or Performance of a favorite piece of literature, a poetry slam, or something completely different.
To enter the competition, please:
* Complete and sign the enclosed application form
* Reach out in your local community and awaken interest in your school’s PASCH program
* Plan your project to be completed during 2020
* Submit your application to the German Mission of your area by Sept. 27, 2019
A jury panel of independent professionals chosen by each German Mission will select one winner from each of the nine German consular districts in the United States. Each winner will receive either full or partial funding for their project during 2020.
The German Missions in the United States will assist in publicizing the winning projects through social media. The competition and winning projects will be featured on the shared global PASCH platform pasch-net.de, generating additional visibility for
PASCH schools and German language education in the USA.
We look forward to your creative entries!
