Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Partner State California @ CeBIT 2009

In past years CeBIT has had designated Partner Countries.
For 2009, for the first time, a US state has been honored with this status and governor Schwarzenegger has accepted the invitation to have California step into the spotlight. This program -- which will consist of forums and presentations, exhibit displays, sponsorship opportunities, and more -- will place California and its participating companies on a global stage as never before.

A variety of organizations promoting the German language have joined forces for a unique educational experience. The Goethe-Institut, along with the German Consulate of San Francisco, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Center German Programs Abroad (ZfA), and the Ständige Arbeitsgruppe Deutsch als Fremdsprache (StADaF) will demonstrate to high school students in the Pacific Northwest how cool it is to learn German.
Airlift

This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift, the heroic humanitarian action of the US and British Air Force to supply food to the 2.2 million people in West Berlin for a period of 16 months after the Soviets blockaded all land, rail and waterways from Western Germany to West Berlin.
