The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Miami is currently offering a full-time position as Senior Advisor for Politics and Economics starting June 1st, 2026.
Job Description:
• Establishing and maintaining contacts with government agencies, state legislatures, associations and local governments in Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
• Conceiving, planning and implementing measures for long-term networking, in particular:
o Implementation of the Joint Declarations of Intent between Germany and Florida and between Baden-Württemberg and Florida and the joint working groups established therein
o Initiation of city partnerships and other forms of institutionalized cooperation
o Study tours for members of the State Legislature, events to promote Germany
• Monitoring and reporting on Florida’s domestic politics
• Establishing and maintaining contacts with companies, investors and associations in tech and finance industries
• Conceiving, planning and executing events to facilitate networking among German tech companies in Florida and to promote investment in Germany
• Initiating, planning and organizing business delegations to Germany
• Monitoring and reporting on developments in Florida’s tech and aerospace industries
Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:
• Master’s degree (M.A.) in a relevant field (politics, economics)
• In-depth knowledge of the political systems of Florida and the United States
• Several years of professional experience in politics or government relations in Florida
• Knowledge of startups/high-tech, venture capital/finance and economic development is a plus
• Strong conceptual skills
• Ability to work independently with authorities in Germany
• Fluency in English is required; fluency in German is highly desirable; knowledge of Spanish is a plus
• Motivation, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, flexibility
• Residence and work permit for the U.S. (required if not U.S. citizen)

The Consulate General offers an excellent work environment as well as competitive compensation in line with local standards. Contract terms and compensation are based on the model employment contract for local employees at German diplomatic missions in the United States and the corresponding compensation schedule. The starting salary is currently $9,383.00 gross per month. Overtime may be compensated at one and a half times the hourly rate.
The employment contract is initially limited to one year and may be extended. The weekly working hours are 40 hours.
