The Consulate General's area of jurisdiction covers the California counties of Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and the states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah.

Due to COVID-19 we currently operate BY APPOINMENT ONLY and do not attend walk-in clients! Please read all information provided on our website carefully, before making any appoinment!
- passport applications (no ID Card applications currently)
- visa applications
- certification of copies
- pick up of citizenship documents (no passport pick up)
To arrange appointments for all other services, please contact us by email!
- notarization of signatures (e.g. name declaration, birth or marriage registration, legal documents)
- full notarization (Beurkundung, e.g. certificate of inheritance)
- all citizenship matters (naturalization; rentention of citizenship)
Retention Permits are accepted by mail (not email)! Send your complete application (2 application forms with signature, 1 set of copies) by mail, but please note: an appoinment is needed for the notarization of copies of passport and Greencard!
In case of an emergency (e.g. loss of your travel document right before a scheduled trip to Germany), please contact us!
The Consulate General can be reached by phone during the following hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Friday: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
The legal and consular department can be reached by phone Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 1:30 and 3:30 pm.
