A two.day Jazz festival including a tribute to the music of Kurt Weill and a jazzy interpretation of Kur Schwitters’ “Die Ursonate”
Over the last two years, the Jazzwerkstatt Berlin-Brandenburg organized the series “New York Journey” in Berlin and other locations. Now German musicians are giving a guest performance in New York, together with some American musicians. The two-day festival opens with “Derek plays Eric” by the ambitious Andreas Willers Trio, followed by a tribute to the music of Kurt Weill (“The Threepenny Opera”) by the Jazzwerkstatt Orchestra, conducted by Wolfgang Schmittke.
The second evening opens with the Michael Moore, Greg Cohen and Joe Hertenstein Trio, followed by a solo by Julie Sassoon. The night closes with Kurt Schwitters’ legendary Dadaist “Ursonate” as interpreted by Anke Lucks, Potsa Lotsa and Thomas Krüger.
