Screening of the silent film “Nosferatu” accompanied by a new score by Israeli musician Ellyott.
The German Consulate General and the Consulate General of Isreal are pleased to announce the screening of one of the first horror movies, “Nosferatu”, in collaboration with Israeli musician Ellyott on the evening of Halloween.
The “holy grail” of all silent films, Murnau’s iconic ‘’Nosferatu’’ gets a daring new score: invoking techno, art rock and classical music and using Hand-controlled electronica and a re-wired guitar, the new score is life affirming, tragic and magical.
Depicting life in a city burdened with a plague, Nosferatu couldn’t be more relevant with its themes of greed, scapegoating, and one woman’s bravery.
With the film’s very existence being a miracle- when Bram Stoker's heirs sued over the blatant Dracula adaptation, a court ruling ordered all copies of the film to be destroyed. One print of the film had already been distributed around the world, and this print was duplicated over the years, and kept alive by a cult following.
Ellyott, a veteran Tel-Aviv/ London musician and DJ, performs her new score live, and so every performance is unique. The hand-controlled instruments delight the audience and blur the lines between a screening and a live show.
Admission begins at 6 pm and the official start will be at 6:30 pm.
Please be aware that there are security measurements for entering the building (photo ID needed).
