Welcome
New Chamber Ballet Presents: Well (April 25-26)

New Chamber Ballet Well © New Chamber Ballet
New Chamber Ballet presents Well, choreographed by Miro Magloire to music by Anthony Cheung.
Well is one of German-born choreographer Magloire’s major works of the past few years. The title refers to a source, and to the people who come to nourish themselves: dance and music springing forth to feed their sense of humanity. Guggenheim Fellow Anthony Cheung's violin-and-piano works add a perpetually renewing rhythmic imagination, and scintillating harmonies that evoke the reflection of light in water.
“Well... had a dreaming, contemplative feel... meditative ... as if everything would happen whether we were there or not,” wrote Leigh Witchel in a review of the ballet's 2023 premiere.
Well will be performed in New Chamber Ballet's signature, in-the-round setup, with the audience seated up-close and able to see the kaleidoscopic choreography from various angles. As always at New Chamber Ballet, the music will be performed live.
Performers include the dancers Anabel Alpert, Megan Foley, Nicole McGinnis, Amber Neff, and Rachele Perla; as well as Lauren Conroy (violin) and Matt Schultheis (piano).
“It's heartening to see work so focused on the meeting of dance and music.” -Alastair Macaulay, The New York Times
