Dunja Messer-Jourdain is one of more than 50 artists who open the doors to their studios in collaboration with artHARLEM, featuring emerging and internationally recognized visual artists as well as authors and poets

German visual artist and fashion designer Dunja Messer-Jourdain invites viewers to her art studio into a world where color breathes emotion and abstraction becomes language. Her paintings emerge from intuition and intent — layered, deeply felt, astonishingly immersive— revealing moments of movement, memory, and inner rhythm. Now based in New York City, Dunja Messer-Jourdain works with acrylics, fabrics and reflective materials.

artHARLEM was founded by Reuben Sinha in 2004. The annual Harlem Open Artist Studio Tour (HOAST) celebrates the neighborhood’s artistic vitality with a two-day, self-guided tour of studios, galleries, and cultural spaces across Harlem, from Central Park to Sugar Hill. A chance to experience Harlem’s historic streets and cultural legacy through the lens of its contemporary creative community, with over 50 participating artists in this year’s event. The event is free and open to all.

Date and Time: October 18 and 19, 2025 12pm to 6pm

Location: The event takes place in studios, galleries, and cultural spaces across Harlem, NY, from Central Park to Sugar Hill
