The Three Bs - Bach, Beethoven and Brahms © Mannes Sound
An evening featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Liebermann, offering a dialogue between past and present in the elegant setting of the German Consulate
The German Consulate General Co-presents:
Since the year 2000, Mannes Sounds Festival has presented annual concerts on a wide range of topics as part of the Mannes Sounds Festival at the German Consulate General.
Founded in 1999 by Pavlina Dokovska, chair of the Mannes Piano department, the Mannes Sounds festival presents more than 20 concerts annually performed by young artists from Mannes School of Music, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the School of Drama as well as masterclasses and lectures by distinguished faculty members and renowned guest artists.
On February 11, hosted and moderated by prominent American composer Lowell Liebermann, this special Mannes Sounds Festival event explores the enduring legacy of three pillars of the Western classical tradition: J. S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms. Through conversation and music, Liebermann reflects on the ways these composers have shaped his artistic thinking and creative voice.
The program offers a dialogue between past and present in the elegant setting of the German Consulate. An evening of thoughtful listening and reflection, this event invites audiences to consider how tradition continues to inspire contemporary composers.
