The KINO! Film Salon is a free monthly online film discussion group about German film, produced by
Telescope Film and the German Film Office. Each month we choose a German film or series currently available to stream, watch it independently, and come together for a hosted conversation with other fans of German film.

Our film for February is The Legend of Paul and Paula, directed by Heiner Carow, and produced by DEFA, the iconic studio established in the German Democratic Republic. We’ll be hosting the Salon live from the Berlin International Film Festival, and we’ll have a special guest, Stefanie Eckert, Managing Director of the DEFA Foundation, who will join us to introduce and discuss the film.
The Legend of Paul and Paula: In this East German film, that was almost not released due to its political undertones, an ambitious, married bureaucrat, Paul, and a down-on-her-luck, single mother of two, Paula, fall in love after meeting in a nightclub. However, Paul's dedication to his work and marriage endangers their future plans to get married and start of life of their own.

Date and Time: Sunday, February 15th at 11:00am - 12:00pm PT / 2:00 - 3:00pm ET / 8:00pm - 9:00pm CET.

Location: On Zoom; RSVP and the Zoom link will be sent to you the day before
