The Saxon Wind Philharmonic, OPUS KLASSIK “Ensemble of the Year” 2023, makes its Carnegie Hall debut on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, at the New York International Music Festival, marking a milestone in its acclaimed international journey
The Saxon Wind Philharmonic, awarded with the OPUS KLASSIK as “Ensemble of the Year” in 2023, celebrates a major milestone in its remarkable history this year: On Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, the ensemble will perform as part of the New York International Music Festival at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. This evening marks a significant achievement for the orchestra – for the first time, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic will perform on this iconic stage, which is among the most prestigious in the world.
This success did not happen by chance: The orchestra’s history, which began as the Radio Wind Orchestra Leipzig, is a story of passion, tireless dedication, and an unwavering belief in the unifying power of music. After facing uncertain times, particularly in the years following Germany’s reunification, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic has established itself as one of the most significant orchestras of its kind. The invitation to New York is not only a great honor but also a recognition of the orchestra’s consistency and commitment to excellence.
At Carnegie Hall, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic will present a signature program that reflects the ensemble’s unique musical identity. The orchestra’s distinctive sound, which has already gained international acclaim, will once again shine on this special evening, captivating a global audience.
This journey would not have been possible without the generous support of the Friends of the Saxon Wind Philharmonic Association, a successful crowdfunding campaign, and the continued commitment of the orchestra‘s devoted audience. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who have contributed to turning this vision into reality.
The orchestra’s trip to New York (April 4–7, 2026) is a further proof that the Saxon Wind Philharmonic pursues its musical mission with passion and dedication – bringing the sound of Saxony to the world!
