The German Translation Section cordially invites you to its annual celebration of German Language Day at the United Nations, marking the day it opened its doors at UN Headquarters in New York on 1 July 1975. German Language Day has been observed annually at the UN around 1 July since 2021.
This year the German Translation Section is partnering with the Permanent Mission of Austria to the UN in New York and the German Film Office to host a movie screening on 1 July.

On the same day, the Goethe-Institut USA will also offer free online German trial classes to celebrate the event. In honor of German Language Day at the UN, the Goethe-Institut USA is offering free German trial classes on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, for different levels. The classes are held on Zoom and are open to participants aged 17 years and older.
