Goethe's Faust—Parts I and II—is brought to the stage in an extraordinary solo performance by Austrian actor and theatre maker Max Pfnür. In this acclaimed adaptation, a single performer embodies more than twenty characters, transforming seamlessly between Faust, Mephistopheles, Gretchen, and many others through voice, movement, and minimal theatrical means.

Performed in German with carefully integrated English subtitles, the production preserves the musicality and poetic richness of Goethe's original language while remaining fully accessible to international audiences.

Rather than condensing the work into a conventional summary, this adaptation embraces the full dramatic arc of both parts, creating an immersive theatrical journey through one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature. The result is an intense exploration of ambition, knowledge, desire, love, guilt, and redemption—questions that remain as compelling today as they were over two centuries ago.

The production has received critical acclaim in Europe, including the Second Jury Prize at the Heidelberg Theatre Festival, and now makes its New York appearance as part of the United Solo Festival. This performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience Goethe's monumental work in a bold, intimate, and deeply human theatrical form.
