East Coast Premiere of TENEZ. Before a big tennis match, Leo faces his former abusive coach, sending him into a spiral between the court and gambling halls.
Join us for the East Coast Premiere of the German drama short TENEZ, directed by Maximilian Nita (20 min). Part of PROGRAM #3: WHO ARE WE?, the film delves into a gripping and emotionally charged narrative about trauma, resilience, and personal turmoil.
The story follows Leo, a dedicated tennis player preparing for a crucial championship. His life takes a dark, psychological turn when he unexpectedly encounters his former coach—the man who physically abused him nearly a decade prior. Wrestling with long-standing mental health struggles triggered by this past abuse, Leo threatens to completely spiral out of control as he navigates the high-pressure environment of the tennis court and the self-destructive distraction of local gambling halls.
Anchored by powerful performances from a talented cast including Linus Scherz, Joachim Schönfeld, Lennart Hahn, Paul Heimel, and Sven Seeburg, TENEZ offers a raw and unflinching look at the lingering shadows of trauma and the arduous journey toward reclaiming one's life.
